California! This year (February to be exact!) was a rather interesting trip. Everyone was sick when we went out there. Ryan liked to refer to the beach house as the “House of Death.” Surprisingly we were one of the only ones who did not catch the horrible bug that they got. We did have a great time hanging out with the family though as always. We went to a car show, Disney’s Ice Cream Shop, Disneyland, shopping, saw a good old friend, visited some beautiful gardens, and just played. I can’t believe next February is almost here so we can go again! (Yes. That is a pic of Mom & Dad pushing Jenny’s van out of the garage)

For Ryan's Birthday present (Yes his birthday in 2008!) I gave him tickets to see Jerry Seinfeld in Las Vegas. I must say that Jerry was hilarious and he does put on a great show. We just laughed and laughed the entire night. The thing that he does best is use so many examples of everyday things in his comedy routines and somehow turns them into something that you laugh at. The problem with Ryan’s birthday is that it is on Christmas Eve. I have to buy him double the presents and try to somehow make his birthday special. Since I am just posting this now, I am trying to come up with some more ideas since his birthday is coming up very very soon. Help!

Time to Catch Up!!!

So I think that it is finally time for me to catch up on my posts! I will slowly but surely be going through what we have been up to for the past 6 months...maybe 7!

Every December my Dad has the Colorado Water Users Conference in Las Vegas. It has been about two years ago that I went with him last so I decided to invite myself and go down with him again this year. Anyone who knows my Dad knows that he is always in for a good time and he always thouroughly enjoys himself whenever he is on vacation. We arrived down there and of course had to hit up the Belagio buffet first thing (what is it with our parent's generation and buffets?) it was fabulous and we ate way too much!

Since it is Christmastime we love to walk around and see all of the over the top Christmas decorations that they have there. In the Bellagio atrium this year they had a large snow man made out of carnations. It was so pretty!

In years past we have been to some great shows. This year was an extra special treat... we went to Donny & Marie! I was absolutely shocked at these 50 year olds and how they could rock. My Dad loved the show and we left with our pink Donny & Marie collectors cups (mind you we did take a few extra home with us!).

I will never forget these one on one times that am able to spend with my Dad. They are always great memories!

We have snow!! A lot of snow for down here. They closed the schools down here and I do not think that people know what to do at all! This morning I was driving to work and I saw these guys in the back of a pickup truck shoveling out salt onto the roads. Boy are things different down here! San Francisco

This past weekend Ryan and I went to San Francisco for a work conference that I had to go to. We have a couple of friends that have moved out there and it was so much fun to see them and just hang out for the weekend before I had to go to my conference. We went to the Winchester house. For those of you who do not know about the Winchester house it is wild. This lady who built the house was the heiress of the Winchester rifles fortune and she had all of these bad things happen to her in a row. So after his misfortunes she went and saw a psychic who told her that it was all of the spirits who had been killed by Winchester rifles who were haunting her. The psychic told her that the only way to make it so that the spirits would stay away from her is to continue to build on her house. She took her advice and the house has all these bizarre things. There are doors that go to nowhere, doors that when you open them they drop down a whole level, and cupboards that are only two inches thick! The craziest part was that she had all of these stairs that are really small and there are a ton of them to go up to just go up one level. We walked over a mile going through the tour of the house!! We then of course went on a trolley ride, made our way to Ghiradelli Square, did some damage shopping, and just had a grand old time!

Halloween this year was a riot. I made Ryan dress-up with me as Rocker and I was Rockette. Ryan even sported black nail polish! We went to the neighborhood party and some of the young kids thought that Ryan was one of the kids that went to their school. We then had a little get together with Ryan's family. Ryan's Aunt Starla took it all for the best costume...! I almost died of laughing when I saw it. The best part is that she really does have a chiuwawa for her pet! So she really could have sat on it. Ryan's sweet Grandma just loved coming over and giving out candy to all of the kids. Hopefully it will be a new tradition!

I have not done some blogging for awhile so here is the catch-up on my online journal! My sister and brother-in-law came down a few weeks ago and wanted to hop over to Las Vegas for a little day trip. We showed them around and we got some good shopping in and took in a few sights. The Bellagio is always my favorite to go and see their atrium and the changes that they make to it each season. The tree behind Ryan and I was my favorite!

All You Runners...

I know...I am about a month late! But the first weekend in October we were able to watch all of the runners come through the finish line who ran the St. George Marathon. I do not know how you guys all do it! It was pretty amazing to see all of the runners of different ages come through the end. The picture above is of our friend Spencer who ran the race. It was freezing cold and raining and everyone still came through!! Ryan and I just happily watched for people we knew!

The Killers

So we have had quite the eventful few weeks (more posts to come!!) one of the highlights was last night. Ryan and I and a couple of friends went and saw The Killers at The House of Blues in Las Vegas. It was awesome!! The venue is rather small and we were able to weasel our way up really close. They played all of their big hits like Bright Side, Human, When You Were Young, Somebody Told Me, Bones, and many more. Needless to say we did not get home until after 2:00 last night and I am really exhausted today! It was worth it though! (Don't they look so clean cut these days?)

This weekend we get to have Ryan's Young Men come over for a BBQ (i.e. bribery to go to priesthood session!). My assignment (as always!) is cookies. I have decided to make the easy but delicious and extremely unhealthy recipe of homemade Oreo cookies. But I found this sweet recipe for frosting to make it more season appropriate. It is from Martha's Mini Pumpkin Whoopie Pies and the frosting looks yummy. Here it is if you need a little somthing to "Fallifize" a recipe you have!

Pumpkin Frosting

4 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup canned solid pack pumpkin
Pinch of cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg

Mix it up and slap it on!! Enjoy

My dear friend Heather got me hooked on Bumble and Bumble's products years ago. This is the latest product of theirs that I can now not live without. It is the best for making my hair stay put when I want it curly without using a pound of hairspray and it stays all day!!

Speaking of hair... I braved it today to go to a new hairsylist in St. George and she did a really good job but it took her THREE AND A HALF HOURS!! Forever if you ask me.

Yogo Tango

When Ryan went to Pinkberry for the first time in February he was sick so he did not really like the yogurt there or was not really impressed. Well we found this place called Yogo Tango that is pretty similar to Pinkberry but they have more flavors of yogurt and you can put as many toppings on as you want. We ended up going there three times. You might say that it has started a slight obsession and Ryan is still talking about going back!

Sea World

This both mine and Ryan's first time to Sea World and we really had a blast seeing the famous Shamu and all of the tricks all the animals could do. It was definitely just a one day theme park though if you ask me! Ryan's favorite part was the pet show. They had all of these different animals that were trained to do funny things. Mine was Shamu!! Look at those flips they were doing!

Over Labor Day Ryan and I went for a fun trip to San Diego. Ryan and I have started a fun tradition where we switch off years planning what we are going to do for our anniversary. This was my year to figure things out and Ryan had NO idea what we were doing. I made him jump in the car early Saturday morning and we were off. He thought we were going to go to Las Vegas but once we passed there I told him we were going to Disneyland (let me tell you he was not very enthused!) but he got really excited when he found out we were on our way to the sunny state. As we were driving on I-15 lo and behold I found the only Pottery Barn Outlet store in the West (much to Ryan's dismay!) and I made him stop for some treasures on the way home. How lucky was that? It was meant to be.

Last Saturday night was spent in bliss at the COLDPLAY concert in ViVA Las Vegas! They are going to be at the Energy Solutions Arena in Salt Lake in November... (November 22 to be exact.) It was one of the best concerts I have been to. If you get the chance you should go!

Ryan's birthday is on December 24th (Yes! Christmas Eve). Since he has to share his day with everyone else, I decided that we were going to celebrate his half birthday every year which is today. These are the top 10 reasons why I love Ryan so so much:

1. He NEVER fails to make me laugh. If you know him well enough you know that you are in for some kind of a joke or just a plain old good time every time you are with him.

2. He has a huge heart. He takes special care of those dear to him and oftentimes gives more than you can imagine.

3. He makes me feel like I am the best cook in the world (even though I am not)!

4. He pushes me to be a better person because he sees what I cannot.

5. Surprisingly enough, he is a lot cleaner than I am.

6. He is a strong person in every aspect of his life. He gives all he can to me, his job, to church, and especially our yard!

7. He has a green thumb.

8. He has the prettiest baby blue eyes.

9. He is not a complainer. This helps a lot because I tend to not have that gift :)

10. He makes me so so happy!

We have been revamping our house slowly but surely. Our latest improvement is that we had the outside of our house painted. Our house was an apricot/peachy color and we wanted something a little more neutral (maybe we should say a lot more neutral!). As many of y ou know, we have been rather busy with all of the fun people who have taken the time out of their lives to come and visit us down here in the beautiful St. George. My family every February or so ventures to get out of the cold weather to go to Newport Beach, CA. This year was not too much different than the rest but I must say that I really look forward to this time that I get to spend with my family every year. We spent our time in LegoLand, Disneyland, and making a well worth it long trip to Pinkberry for some delicious yogurt. The pictures of Ryan and my Dad is at Reagan's Library. The Bingo pictues are done!!! I figured that it was about time that I spare all of you and I post some new things so you did not have to look at the Bingo pictures again!!! I know that most of you who entertain this blog are Utahn's and I dare say that you are probably a lot like me in the fact that you do not appreciate or make use of the beautiful area that we live in. This past January when a few members of my family came down to St. George to run the Painter's 5k (and sorry folks but there are no pictures of that blissful event that I dare share!!) we went to the beautiful Zion's National Park. If you ever need something interesting to do, try Bingo in one of the casino's in Vegas! Our friends Melissa and Jeff inroduced us to the idea and boy did we ever have fun. The place was packed with people at least 75 and older and with all of the fun we were having, the old timers thought that we were a little too loud. We officially were "Shushed" and I mean really "Shushed"quite a few times because this Bingo is really serious business. What are we going to be like when we are that age?! (By the way...none of us won but we definitely want to do it again!)

I know that I am about a month late...but I have been a bit behind in my blogging! Halloween was a riot. Ryan was gone to Las Vegas for work and so I decided that I was going to dress up anyways and pass out candy. Ryan's Grandma and Aunt Starla came over to assist in distributing the goodies. Grandma Bowles was practically out in the road giving out candy to the kids! We had quite a few trick-or-treaters but I was still left with all that candy! We will have to buy a little less next year! Don't you just love the mullet and the teeth? Some people did not even recognize me! I still have that blue eyeshadow if anyone wants to borrow it!

"The Wuff and the Reindeer"

If you know my family, you know that they love practical jokes. These are the great objects that were discovered at my house this past weekend. The "Wuff" as my sister Bonnie endearingly calls it is a disgusting little toy that she picked up at DI for Ryan. She seems to think that Ryan loves "Wuffs" as much as she does. Can you see the little hole in its cheek? When you squeeze it there was a balloon like thing that fills up with this yellow liquid...gross! When Bonnie left it in our possession, we banned it to the garage where Ryan was playing with it a day or two later and it burst all over my car! Thank heavens it did not happen in the house.

The other pretty object is the "Reindeer" from Matt Hargreaves mom Linda. Linda had a yard sale and I went over to help and somehow that thing got attached to the front of my car. Do not worry...I drove around with those beautiful pearls flapping around on the front of my car for a couple of days without knowing it was there. Needless to say payback was a must so it has been going back and forth for a few years now. This last time it was left on top of my fan which flew off so beautifully when I turned it on. Thanks Matt!

These are some pictures from our wild weekend! My big bro Matt and his cute wife Candi came through on their way back from California to stay with us. We had a great time hiking around the "Sugar Loaf" and playing with the kids. We were also able to entice my sister Bonnie and her family to come down and play. With all of the practical jokes going on and the kids keeping us entertained.......it was a great weekend and I was sad to see them leave.

I figure that it is about time for me to make another post (I am really not very good at this!). Ryan and I are now beginning to really enjoy the weather here in St. George. We are averageing in about the 80's and there is not an ounce of snow in sight. I have been missing the changing of the leaves and being able to wear jackets more often so hopefully that will come soon enough! We have started to have the visitors roll in though.....we knew that you would come when the weather started to get bad up North. We love having people here, so keep on comin' down! I will post the pics of our adventures soon.

So we are officially being broken-in to the extreme heat down here. The air conditioning went out on our house and we might have to wait another five days until it gets fixed! Hello Everyone!!
I am finally up with the times and have a blog! We are now in St. George and doing well adjusting to our new home and the HEAT! The red rocks and our desert landscape are keeping us company since it is hard to be so far away from family. We do have really nice neighbors and people who live close to us so we are blessed to have such a great area to live in. We have yet to have any visitors come and stay with us but we know when it gets cold up north we will have plenty.
